What to Pack for Uni (That You Won’t Find on the Official Checklist)

You’ve packed your duvet, your favourite hoodie, and enough pot noodles to last a month.

But if you really want to own uni life, there are a few essentials that don’t make the standard checklist, yet should top yours.

Whether you’re moving into halls or commuting from home, these are the items that’ll keep you confident, prepared, and in control of your sexual wellness.

1. Condoms

Sex happens. When it does, be ready. Keep a few condoms for STI protection and contraception in your bag or drawer, discreet, easy, and totally essential.

2. Mini Lubes

Lube supports sexual pleasure and wellness, making everything smoother (literally). Opt for a couple of small sachets that are travel-friendly and discreet. Great for solo or partnered play.

3. Painkillers & Plasters

Freshers flu is real. So are mystery bruises from nights out. Stock a mini first-aid kit with pain relief, plasters, and antihistamines.

4. Reusable Water Bottle

Hydration is key. Trust us, your skin, brain, and hangovers will thank you.

5. Snacks

Night-out munchies or 3am study snacks? Always keep a stash of cereal bars, nuts, or instant noodles in your room or bag.

6. Phone Charger (and a spare)

Nothing kills a vibe like a dead phone halfway through a night out.

7. ID & Student Discount Card

Get into clubs, save on takeaways, and unlock discounts across campus and beyond.

8. Confidence

Cheesy? Maybe. But knowing you’re prepared (sexually and otherwise, with student sexual health essentials) makes all the difference.

Uni life is unpredictable, wild, and occasionally awkward. But it’s also an amazing chance to explore, learn, and grow. Pack smart, stay safe with your sexual wellness in mind, and don’t be afraid to own your choices, whether you’re hooking up, staying solo, or anything in between.
